TUCSON (KVOA) – The man who was hit and killed by an alleged disabled driver in central Tucson died from his injuries on Tuesday after a five-month battle.

At around 10 p.m. on May 27, 64-year-old James Walter Davis was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a black 2006 Ford Focus while crossing Swan Road at 22nd Street.

According to Tucson Police, Davis was walking on the zebra crossing when the traffic light for vehicle travel on 22nd Street changed from red to green. While other cars slowed all 64-year-olds by the end of the crossing, the driver of the Ford Focus, later identified as 23-year-old Christina Alehia Walker, reportedly overtook those vehicles in the bus lane and crashed into Davis as he approached the Curb.

TPD said after Walker hit the pedestrian, he reportedly continued driving down 22nd Street and came across a speed limit sign and an elevated median.

Officials said Walker fled the scene but was later detained and taken to the Pima County Jail for numerous crimes. She has now been released from prison.

Police said detectives later found that unsafe movement, failure to give way to a pedestrian, and impairment were the main causes of the collision.

The investigation continues.
