TUCSON – The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin a second round of pavement replacement work for the State Route 77 / Oracle Road improvement project beginning the week of Sunday, October 3rd.

Work will be carried out on the southern end of the project with paving work on the Miracle Mile between Interstate 10 and Oracle Road and Oracle Road from Miracle Mile to River Road.

Most of the work will be carried out overnight to minimize the impact on construction, with road and lane restrictions scheduled between 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday

Initial paving will commence along Oracle Road south at Miracle Mile, with work continuing on Miracle Mile between I-10 and Oracle Road. The crews will pave turn lanes before working on the lanes.

During night work, drivers can expect large vehicles and devices on the road that will remove the existing pavement and then pave new asphalt. The crews work on one lane after another.

During night work, drivers can expect large vehicles and devices on the road that will remove the existing pavement and then pave new asphalt. Drivers should expect uneven sidewalks and reduced speed limits through December as well. One lane remains free while the road is in operation.

The new sidewalk is one of many improvements planned as part of a two-year, $ 34 million project to improve the freeway between Interstate 10 and Oracle Road and Oracle Road from Miracle Mile to Calle Concordia.

While the entire project duration includes the replacement of worn pavement, the section between Ina and Magee streets will be significantly improved. The upgrades include curb and gutter, sidewalks and LED lighting between River and Ina streets, with the curb and gutter between Ina and Magee streets.

This summer, ADOT completed the first pavement replacement work on the 2.4 km long Oracle Road between Calle Concordia and Magee Road at the north end of the project. Further paving work will resume in 2022.

Drivers should expect some lane restrictions and delays during the day during the project. ADOT will have access to the approximately 1,100 companies in the corridor at all times.

More information about the project can be found at azdot.gov/SR77.
