TUCSON, Arizona (KOLD News 13) – Tucson and Pima Counties still have more than $ 20 million in rental subsidies available.
According to the Community Investment Corporation, the program can help pay for up to a year of subsequent rent and a three-month prepayment.
According to the CIC, qualifications include income, housing instability and financial crisis due to the pandemic. More information about the program can be found at https://tucsonpimaep.com/
The Tucson Pima Eviction Prevention Program has already paid out more than $ 8 million in rental and utility services, with an additional $ 5 million allocated to tenants who work with case managers.
The CIC hopes that landlords and property managers will allow tenants to apply for and receive funding.
“While we understand that landlords are in a difficult position, we encourage patience and participation,” said Danny Knee, executive director of CIC. “The situation is better for everyone when landlords and property managers are healed and the tenants’ apartments are stabilized. There are over 11 agencies and 73 people working weekly to handle cases and raise funds for those who are behind. “
The CDC’s eviction moratorium expires on June 30 and is unlikely to be extended.
That could mean a wave of evictions by midsummer.
