TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) – Park Tucson plans to resume its vehicle immobilization program on Monday, August 9th, and officials are urging residents to pay unpaid parking fees until then.

According to a press release, park authorities plan to install a “barnacle” device on every vehicle owned by someone with three or more unpaid parking permits.

The “Barnacle” is a GPS-monitored device that is attached to the windshield of a car and blocks the driver’s view so that the car cannot move.

Once a barnacle is installed on a car, its owner has the option of attending a hearing within 48 hours, and the device is removed once all fines and fees have been paid.

To pay a parking fee or agree a payment plan, vehicle owners can call Tucson City Court at (520) 791-4216 or visit 103 E. Alameda Street on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
