Dramatic video shows tricky swift-water rescue near Tucson | Arizona Monsoon

NEAR TUCSON, AZ (3TV / CBS 5) – With all of the recent rains due to the 2021 monsoon, it’s no surprise that the crews of the Golder Ranch Fire District and Northwest Fire District responded to two separate water rescue calls before 8 a.m. One was in La Cholla, the other in Overton.

GRFD released a dramatic video of one of the bailouts, which said three people had to be pulled out of a pickup truck that was stuck in a flooded area while water spilled over the hood. The video shows a rescuer on a ladder stretched out over the water and several others in the water. First responders helped passengers escape the flooded truck through the driver’s side window. No injuries were reported.

“Great teamwork (sic) from all first responders,” said GRFD on his Facebook post.

On the other call, GRFD said the driver was able to get himself out of his car. Firefighters are continuously training to be prepared for situations like the first responders near Tucson on Tuesday morning. The message to any motorist who comes across a flooded lane or car wash is simple: “Turn around. Don’t drown.”
