TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) – A public funeral was held on Friday, October 8th for the DEA agent who was killed in a shooting at the Amtrak train station in Tucson.

Special Agent Mike Garbo’s funeral was held at Calvary Chapel at 8177 East Speedway Boulevard in Tucson.

“The Friday service will honor the courage and sacrifice of Supervisory Special Agent Garbo and celebrate his life as a loving husband, father, brother and exemplary federal narcotics agent,” the announcement reads.

Garbo, DEA agent Steve Fox, and a Tucson police officer were part of a task force raiding a train in downtown Tucson on Monday, October 4th. The Counter Narcotics Alliance followed up on a lead investigating drugs, firearms and money.

Authorities said agents saw Darrion Taylor and Devonte Okeith Mathis sitting in a row in a train car. Mathis is said to have pulled several bags away from him and said when asked that they were not his.

In one of the bags, agents found almost five pounds of marijuana and 50 packages of edibles.

According to court records, Taylor opened fire on the task force without warning.

Garbo, Fox, and the TPD officer were all shot dead by Taylor. Garbo, 51, died, leaving a wife and daughter. Fox suffered serious injuries and the TPD officer was injured but was supposed to survive. Taylor died after officers returned fire, while Mathis was taken into custody as soon as the shots were fired.
