Jury almost ready for Potter trial in Daunte Wright’s death
The jury on the trial of a suburban Minneapolis police officer charged with the shooting of Daunte Wright was nearing completion on Thursday, with only two deputies needed before opening statements next week. Kim Potter, 49, is charged with first and second degree manslaughter in the shooting of Wright, a 20-year-old black motorist, on April 11 after a traffic stop in the Brooklyn Center suburb of Minneapolis. Potter, who is white, has said she wanted to use her taser on Wright after he pulled away from the officers when they tried to arrest him, but that she accidentally pulled her gun. Her body camera recorded the shooting.
