Authorities investigating fatal shooting in South Tucson

TUCSON, Arizona (KOLD News 13) – Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting in South Tucson early Sunday, June 20.

South Tucson police said it happened at Cafe Santa Rosa at 2615 South 6th Avenue.

The STPD said Aaron Elando, 39, was shot in the parking lot and died in a local hospital.

Authorities said Elando had an argument with one or more people in the restaurant’s banquet room.

Someone fired a handgun in the hall and people fled into the parking lot.

The STPD said while in the Elando parking lot a gun was aimed at one of the band’s musicians performing in the hall.

This band member and his brother shot and hit Elando several times. They said they didn’t know Elando and had never met him.

No charges were filed and there were no arrests of the case. Anyone with information should call 88-CRIME or go to www.88crime.org
