TUCSON, Arizona (KOLD News 13) – KOLD has confirmed that some of the Haitian migrants encamped on the Texas border are staying in hotels in the Tucson area.
Migrants in Tucson are accommodated in hotels across the city as well as in the Casa Alitas Welcome Center. Officials say that once processed, the migrants will stay in the city for a few days until more permanent housing can be found.
“Very large numbers” of Haitians have been released in recent days, according to a US official with direct knowledge of the operations. This undermines the Biden government’s public statements that the thousands of migrants at the border are facing immediate deportation.
When asked about the release in the United States, Homeland Security said Wednesday that migrants who are not immediately deported to Haiti can be detained or released with a request to appear before an immigration tribunal or to report to an immigration service, depending according to the available cell. The department did not want to say how many were fired.
