Huge criminal investigation ongoing in neighborhood in midtown Tucson

Tucson, Arizona (KOLD News 13) – An investigation involving multiple agencies in Midtown Tucson is developing.

Police said Mark Allen Barnes, 49, was arrested on an arrest warrant for dangerous drug possession when he contacted people during the investigation.

The investigation is focused on two houses on the 3200 blocks of Towner Street and Bermuda Street. According to the neighbors, the two share a garden. And it is unclear what this investigation entailed.

Police say they looked in backyards for evidence and combed the property but didn’t want to confirm whether they were looking for drugs, remains or weapons – they just said the investigation is criminal in nature.

Marana police, who said the investigation was from one of their cases, said authorities found several stolen motorcycles on the property.

There is a lot of clutter in the courtyards and police said it takes a long time to comb through all of this. Marana PD said they contacted several people on the property but were unable to tell us how many people actually lived in these homes.

Neighbors say it is a rental property and KOLD News 13 contacted the owner listed on public records who responded with “no comment”.

Neighbors also say this is not the first time something like this has happened at these addresses. KOLD News In 2017, 13 confirmed search warrants were served for these two properties. Investigators packed and left saying there is currently no threat to the public.

Authorities said that Border Patrol, ATF, Marana PD, TPD and Oro Valley PD were involved in or supportive of the investigation.

Nobody is currently in custody.
