TUCSON, Arizona (KOLD News 13) – Tucson police made an arrest while investigating a murder on Saturday September 4th in midtown Tucson.
Nivek Isaiah Gastelum is charged with first degree murder. Detectives say information from interviews and forensic evidence was sufficient to obtain an arrest warrant for the 20-year-old.
Officials said they heard several gunshots on September 4 while they were in the 4600 block of E. Speedway Blvd. They found a man in a parking lot with obvious gunshot wounds.
The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as 31-year-old Alexander Ian Jacobs.
Detectives believe Gastelum was involved in an altercation with Jacobs prior to the shooting in the parking lot.
