TUCSON, Arizona (KOLD News 13) – The annual festival is back! Tucson Meet Yourself has been held in downtown Tucson since 1974. Last year it was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year it’s personal again as the festival takes up three blocks.
Founded in 1974 by folklorist Jim Griffith and his wife Loma Griffith, Tucson Meet Yourself is an annual celebration of the living traditional arts of the diverse ethnic and popular communities of southern Arizona and northern Mexico. The free, three-day event features hundreds of artisans, home cooks, dancers, musicians, and special exhibits celebrating and honoring beauty in all of its diverse, informal, and everyday forms. Tucson Meet Yourself takes place annually on the second weekend in October in downtown Tucson.
The celebrations are coming to an end because today is the last day.
Tucson Meet Yourself is a FREE event. The organizers ask festival goers to consider donating any amount at the festival entry points, in donation boxes across the site, or in buckets carried by volunteers on the stages.
Sunday, October 10th | 11 am-6pm
The festival extends over 3 blocks and Jacomé Plaza in front of the Joel D. Valdez Main Library, 101 N. Stone Ave., Tucson AZ 85701
