TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) – A Tucson woman says she hired a landscaper to do jobs that didn’t go as she planned. But the landscaper says his crew did exactly what they were told.
Aimee Finkelstein says she is upset because her garden is now a mess. She hired a crew from Pueblo Verde Landscaping last month to freshen up her yard for bringing her home in East Tucson to market. The crew was hired after Finkelstein saw the crew work for a neighbor.
“It was in my own little oasis and they were just doing a number on my garden, everything was so plush. Everything was covered now, I can only see masonry, I have no privacy, ”said Finkelstein.
Finkelstein says she met with the company’s owner and crew to come up with her plan for a farm she has been working on for 12 years.
“The owner came over, I went through everything because I’m a fanatic. I went through every single tree, bush, flower and explained what I wanted to do. Three days later he sent his men over and I did the whole routine with them all over again. They looked like they were doing what they were supposed to be doing, so I left and when I came back I came back to the slaughter, “said Finkelstein.
Out of frustration, Aimee immediately called the owner of the company to find a solution and was not satisfied.
“He defended her, he said that I asked for it. I explained to him that if I had such a beautiful garden, why should I want to switch from this to this, ”said Finkelstein.
KGUN 9 spoke to the owner of Pueblo Verde Landscaping by phone and he said he had responded to Aimee’s complaint both on the Better Business Bureau website and in person. He also says the biggest problem was that Aimee and her husband gave the crew different directions and had different ideas about what they wanted. On top of that, Finkelstein’s husband actually paid the crew with a check and tipped them at the end of the day. The owner also says he never cashed the check for $ 475 he received for the job and was instructed by Aimee not to send the crew back to finish the job.
At this point, the owner informs KGUN 9 that there is nothing more he can do. The owner says his crew will stop working immediately if conflicting instructions arise in the future. The company currently has an A + rating from the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
The BBB says you should always do the following:
- Get a clear scope of what to do and prices
- Get everything in writing
It’s also a good idea to check out the workers as they do the job to make sure you’re getting exactly what you want.
Aimee says that in the future she will be more careful and get paperwork for any work on her house. In the meantime, she is determined to restore her garden to what it used to be.
“That’s what I put my heart and soul into. I think he should pay for the restoration of the farm, ”said Finkelstein.
