TUCSON, Arizona (KOLD News 13) – Two Tucson community leaders and businesspeople join forces to help students pay tuition fees at a new, innovative university in the area.
Humberto S. Lopez, President of HSL Properties, and Jim Click, President of the Jim Click Automotive Team, are offering scholarships of up to $ 3,000 to 25 students from the Catholic University of America Tucson.
Tuition fees for the school that offers business degrees are less than $ 10,000 per year. A four-year business degree can cost up to $ 200,000 at other schools across the country. The school said some students with additional scholarships and grants will not pay anything for their first year.
“When I heard about this innovative Catholic University program with a desire to partner closely with local Tucson employers while delivering quality education at a fraction of the cost, all I had to do was work together and involve others,” said Click.
“I got involved because it’s a pilot that didn’t exist anywhere else,” said Lopez. “We bring in online concepts to study at your own pace and with a renowned university to reach students who could not have done this.”
The Tucson Catholic University of America campus will host a registration and information session on Saturday, May 1st at 10:00 am. This takes place in the Center for Opportunity at 4550 South Palo Verde Road.
Prospective students and interested family members are invited.
“Students can get a top-notch Catholic education and graduate degree in business administration here in Tucson,” the school said in a press release. “CatholicU students will have the opportunity to connect with a number of Tucson’s most successful business leaders. This is a great advantage if you are planning to develop a career in Tucson. “
