The technology has been shown to generate three times as much energy while a fifth of the land area is used as conventional photovoltaic module systems, but the company Angel, which was founded to market the systems, Rehnu Inc., failed to establish itself.
Last year, after a casual visit, SolarSpace acquired Rehnu and licensed its related technologies from the UA.
SolarSpace is led by David Vili, a longtime Georgia entrepreneur and native of Eastern Europe who came across a demo version of Rehnus Solartracker in the UA’s Biosphere II in Oracle while on a pilgrimage to an Arizona monastery during a UA event there.
He bought a system for the Greek Orthodox Monastery of St. Anthony in Florence and later founded SolarSpace to acquire Rehnu’s assets.
Sustainable energy
NeoChloris Inc. develops, engineers, and installs sustainable water and energy technologies, including biological reactors that process things like animal waste to reduce carbon emissions or produce biofuels.
The company was founded in the greater Chicago area based on technology developed at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
NeoChloris is part of a federal research consortium investigating closed uranium mine sites in New Mexico as a test bed for growing biomass and making biofuels while purifying soil and water.
