TUCSON, AZ – A Tucson man was sentenced to five years in prison for trading in Major League World Series and All-Star rings, as well as a College Hall of Fame ring, owned by Terry Francona, a former baseball player and Major League manager, Cleveland Guardian was stolen.
Jamey Estep, 35, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in the Pima County Superior Court on Aug. 6, after pleading guilty of trafficking in stolen property, according to Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich.
Francona was not identified by the AG office, but had been named in several media reports from the time of Estep’s arrest in December 2019.
The 2019 case concerned the theft of the rings from Francona’s home in Tucson. Two of the rings were for the World Series Championship titles that Francona earned as manager of the Boston Red Sox. The 2004 Red Sox Championship was historic as the team’s first title since 1918.
