A new monthly personal auction focusing on antiques and collectibles opens on the north side of Tucson this Saturday, September 4th.
More than 120 lots will be available to high bidders from 11am to 2pm through Arizona Antique Auctions. The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge, 3445 N. Dodge Blvd., where the auction will take place, will open its doors at 10am for an item preview.
The auction includes inventory ranging from vintage comics and Native American collectibles to glass art and antique photographs.
Edward W. Ejk, who starts the business with longtime friend and business partner Virginia “Genius” Eaker, said the new company meets a need in Tucson, where auctions are almost entirely online through local real estate sales companies such as Caring Transitions and. Bertha and the Babes are held and on sites like auction-tucson.com.
The idea first emerged at the antiques fair that takes place monthly at the Medella Vina Ranch, said Ejk. Ejk and Eaker are dealers at the fair and sell postcards, autographs and other ephemera.
“We see the enthusiasm of the people who are committed to it,” said Ejk. “They enjoy interacting with the dealers there and talking about the items. There seems to be a need for that. “
