Hyundai recalls model year 2017 Tucson and Sonata Hybrids over fire risks

Engine failure can result in stall or fire

The connecting rod bearings in the engine can wear out prematurely, which can lead to engine damage.

A damaged engine can increase the risk of fire or stall the engine, which increases the risk of an accident.

What should I do

Dealers will check the motor and replace it if bearing damage is found. Dealers will also install a software update that includes a new Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS). Repairs are carried out free of charge.

The notification letters for owners are expected to be sent out on November 12, 2021.
