A memorial to Andrew Ryan Boyles, 20, who died on January 7, 2016, who died near 22nd Street and Aviation Parkway. Just before 10:30 p.m., Tucson police officers on Aviation Parkway and East 22nd Street responded to a report of an accident involving two vehicles with serious injuries. Paramedics from the Tucson Fire Department were also dispatched to the scene, according to a police spokesman. Traffic investigators discovered that a 2006 Hyundai SUV was traveling west on Aviation Parkway, approaching the intersection on East 22nd Street in the green light. As the SUV pulled into the intersection, a 2001 Saturn turned left in front of the SUV off the east-facing Aviation Parkway, Dugan said. The SUV collided with the passenger side of the Saturn. Boyles was in the passenger seat and died on the scene. The Saturn driver was taken to Banner University Medical Center Tucson with minor injuries. The driver of the SUV was also transported to Banner-UMC Tucson with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Two inmates of the SUV were taken to hospital with minor injuries. This was the first traffic death in the city in 2016.
