TUCSON, Arizona (AP) – A small plane crashed at an airport outside of Tucson on Tuesday, killing one of two people on board and seriously injuring the second, authorities said.

The single-engine two-seater crashed near a runway at Ryan Airfield, the Tucson Airport Authority said in a statement.

The Rutan Model 61 Long-EZ attempted to land when it crashed, the Federal Aviation Administration said in a brief statement.

The FAA announced and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash.
