TEP began offering special charging tariffs for private electric vehicle owners in 2019, and so far around 400 private customers have signed up for one of four of these tariff options, Barrios said. TEP home customers can also take advantage of a discount of up to $ 500 on electric chargers installed by them.
The three new commercial EV tariff options will be available within a few weeks, Barrios said with information online at tep.com.
Here you can see the new tariffs:
The new standalone electric vehicle charging rate (known as DCFCX) was developed to help companies installing new DC fast charging stations that draw a lot of energy at once. The tariff is designed without a demand fee, but still allows TEP to cover demand-related costs, said Barrios.
Rider 20 is a supplement to the DCFCX tariff, which enables DC fast charging stations to be operated as part of TEP’s Small General Service Time-of-Use tariff, but with a usage of up to 50,000 kWh per month. Both the DCFCX tariff and Rider 20 were developed with input from industry stakeholders to help evolve EV infrastructure by providing tariff options to charging station developers, Barrios said.
Rider 19 was developed to support existing commercial customers who want to install charging stations for their customers or to charge fleets.
