Christensen said the kiosks were easy to use. Just tap the screen to purchase a pack of edible marijuana gums. Asnani said the pharmacy’s full range of products would be available through the kiosks.

After the purchase, the customer receives an estimated pick-up time on the kiosk screen. Christensen estimated the walk to the Downtown Dispensary to be about 10 minutes there and back.

Asnani said its budget tenders will handle orders from customers and patients, using government-issued IDs and driver’s licenses as confirmation. Payment is also processed on-site, and the pharmacy accepts cash, direct debit (with a $ 3.50 fee), and payments through Alt36, a cannabis-centric digital payment processing platform.

While the original plan was to provide medical patients with a delivery option, those plans are now on hold, according to Christensen and Asnani.

“We definitely check that we do the logistical with the software side and then only have our lawyers checked legally,” said Asnani.

The two kiosks are manufactured and designed by Elo and serve two different customer bases: adult recreational customers and medical patients.

That’s because of a difference in pricing and highly effective inventory between the two, Asnani said.
