A getaway driver for a growing crime syndicate will be rolling through downtown and the west side of Tucson in the coming days.
You don’t have to lock your doors – it’s for a movie.
The film called “Duster” is set in the southwest of the 1970s and is directed by JJ Abrams and LaToya Morgan and starring Josh Holloway.
Abrams created the popular “Lost” series, which also starred Holloway.
Several streets of Tucson will be closed near downtown in the Menlo Park neighborhood and in the Santiago Hills west of Silverbell Road between Speedway and Anklam Road.
Film Tucson warns affected neighborhoods of filming and road restrictions, but local residents who must travel during filming are allowed to commute.
The Warner Bros. Television film airs on HBO Max, but a run date has not yet been set.
Tucson dubbed the film after state, county and city leaders partnered with Visit Tucson and Rio Nuevo to put together an incentive package to compete with New Mexico, said Fletcher McCusker, chairman of the board of Rio Nuevo.
He said film producers plan to spend $ 53 million on-site and occupy 450 hotel rooms for about 100 days during filming. 450 people are employed in the city for production.
