Two people were killed in an accident on Interstate 10 outside Tucson on Thursday that involved a pickup truck with a fake license plate, authorities said.
A state trooper tried unsuccessfully to stop the truck at around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, officials from the Arizona Department of Public Safety said.
The driver left the motorway at Mescal, lost control of the truck and, according to the authorities, rolled onto the hard shoulder next to a ramp.
DPS officials said two of the three people in the truck were pronounced dead at the scene. The other person was flown to a Tucson hospital for treatment for unknown injuries.
DPS officials did not immediately reveal the names and ages of the two deceased.
