The combined all-electric range is 35 miles and 80 MPGe when electrification is taken into account. The total range including the gasoline engine is 420 miles.
As a reminder, the Tucson PHEV has a 1.6 liter T-GDI Smartstream engine connected to a 66.9 kW electric motor and a 13.8 kWh lithium polymer battery. Total output is a solid 261 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. This power is routed into all four bends via a standard all-wheel drive via a six-speed automatic transmission.
Minimizing drag was important for obvious reasons, so engineers fitted the crossover with an active air damper that can adjust the air intakes based on a variety of factors such as engine coolant temperature and speed.
