Vaccines available for travelers, community at Tucson International Airport

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) – It just got easier for travelers to get vaccinated whether they hop on or hop off. That’s because Tucson International Airport is home to a new pop-up clinic for COVID-19 vaccines.

Travel is increasing and can get busier with the holidays.

“At the moment, the flights are around 90 to 95 percent full. So everyone who comes and goes in and out of Tucson International Airport is on a pretty full plane, ”said Craig Reck, Public Information Administrator for Tucson International Airport.

Many destinations outside of Arizona require proof of vaccine or a test. Now TIA is a side for both.

“Having vaccines here is just one more step to be comfortable,” Reck said.

The place was exactly the same for Meredith Morris, who came home from New York City.

“That was practical. I asked my husband to get me a Johnson & Johnson and he said, ‘There really is someone who showed up at the airport,’ “said Morris.

She said she got the vaccine because it was now required for her job and she saw firsthand that she couldn’t do everything she wanted when she was traveling.

“I couldn’t go to [9/11] Memorial because I didn’t have a ticket. I couldn’t visit certain places because I didn’t have a map. Trump tower wouldn’t let you in because you didn’t have a card, “she said.

She is not alone. Several others rolled up their sleeves and opted for one of the three vaccines.

The pop-up site is also open to everyone in the community.
