TUCSON (KVOA) – An 8-year-old child has died after being seriously injured in the two-vehicle crash in downtown Tucson on Tuesday night.

According to Tucson Police, 8-year-old Yarel Ruiz and three others were rushed to the hospital around 9:42 p.m. Tuesday after a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro reportedly headed west on Congress Road at high speed. a vehicle headed north when you pass the Grande Avenue intersection.

According to TPD, the vehicle heading north had a green light when it was hit.

First, officials reported that three people were critically injured in connection with the incident. Another suffered minor injuries.

On Thursday, TPD learned that Ruiz had succumbed to her injuries.

That morning, TPD also arrested Bren William Youvella, 35, at his apartment on Block 500 on West Thurber Road after being identified as the driver of the Camaro.

He was sent to Pima County Jail for leaving the site of a serious injury / fatal collision.
