Ryan Green and Cameron Hood – Tucson’s Ryanhood folk rock duo – decided to take a sabbatical from their tour last year to record a follow-up to their 2017 studio album.
Funny how the timing worked.
Who would have thought that making this decision in 2019 would force the entire entertainment world to take a break in 2020?
“It turned out to be pretty good timing to get off the road,” said Green.
This weekend, Ryanhood will host three concerts hosted by Arizona Arts Live to celebrate the release of “Under the Leaves” on Friday April 16th. The evening performances on Friday and Saturday, April 17th, are sold out, but there are still some tickets for a matinee on Saturday.
The album is a musically hypnotizing bluegrass / folk rock collection that takes the listener “Somewhere under the Leaves / Somewhere under my Breath” into a changing world in which “We are heading for a catastrophe / Feels like in the end we’re caving in “.”
“Under the Leaves”, which the two wrote mostly before the COVID-19 pandemic, deals with some heartbreaking topics from the dark love song “Seeing in the Dark” – “Have you ever felt like you did it have? Mistake / Maybe you stayed / Instead of going away? “- and the sobering” I had no chance “tinged with regret -” Maybe I would not have let you go / let you go away / you would still be here. “
