TUCSON (KVOA) – After several years of working together, the Tucson Mayor and City Council finally approved a very extensive annexation and rededication of state land in four years.

The 447 hectare state owned land near Alvernon and Valencia is being converted into a viable property before being sold by the state.

The vacant land was previously zoned to allow additional housing, commercial and retail services, and light industrial use.

“I am very proud of this proposal that will bring services and businesses to the area that residents have
requested, “said Richard Fimbres, Councilor of Ward 5.” I want to thank the Arizona State Land
Ministry and city officials for working on this proposal, which I look forward to completing. “

City officials say development on the property will lead to future job creation.
