Tucson Police are investigating a shooting with an officer in central Tucson Friday afternoon.
A grown man was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. No injuries were reported by local officials or other community members.
At 2:30 p.m., officers in unmarked cars were working on an unrelated matter in the East 29th Street area when a man walked up to an officer in his car, police said.
The police do not know exactly what the first interaction was between them, but an exchange of fire broke out between the man and the officer.
After the shooting, the suspect ran across the street to the 4800 block apartment complex on East 29th Street, near Rosemont Avenue. The officers arrested him there.
The police did not reveal the suspect’s identity.
The investigation continues.
