A recent example is Eurofins Donor Testing Services, part of a large global medical laboratory company that recently announced that it will open a new laboratory in UA Tech Park on South Rita Road next year to provide services to the organ transplant community.
UACI has expanded its reach across southern Arizona with “Outpost” incubator programs in Oro Valley and Sahuarita, and has also attracted some tech startups outside of the state.
“We’re part of the economic attraction team for Tucson and currently for Rita Road. Many of the significant prospects we speak to are out of the region, out of state, ”said Stewart.
At The Bridges, the UA is in talks with two out of state companies interested in moving into future new buildings and aligning themselves with the UA’s mission, Stewart said.
“These are companies that want to interact with the university, have a long-term relationship, help with education, provide funding opportunities, experiential learning and these are the guidelines for renting,” she said, noting UA students from the expansion Internship opportunities will benefit.
Within a few years, UA Tech Park in The Bridges is expected to be home to one of UA’s most visible companies – UA’s public broadcaster, Arizona Public Media.
AZPM, now housed in the Modern Languages building on the UA’s main campus, plans to build a $ 45 million office and manufacturing facility in The Bridges. The project has received initial approval from the Arizona Board of Regents.
