TUCSON (KVOA) – El Tour De Tucson returns to the streets of the city after being postponed in February. Along with this event come various road closures that may set some motorists back.
According to a press release, travel restrictions will begin at 6 a.m. that Saturday when the event begins.
The travel restrictions are expected to be lifted around 5:00 p.m. that day when the last passenger passes the lockdown.
City center closings:
- Sixth Avenue, north of 22nd Street
- South Broadway Road
These closings start at 3 a.m. and reopen around 5 p.m.
Closures on the east side:
- Houghton Road will be closed from Mary Ann Cleveland Way
- Old Vail Road to Sahuarita
These closings are expected to begin at 6:00 p.m. and should end around 3:00 p.m.
Closures on the west side:
- Silverbell Road south from Ina Road to Goret Road
- Drive east on Mission Road on Starr Pass Boulevard
Central Tucson Closures:
- Aviation Parkway heading east from Broadway Blvd. to Golf Links Road
- Wilmot Road south from Golf Links Road to Davis Monthan
- Nicaragua Drive, Calle Polar, Escalante Road heading east from Wilmot Road to Kolb Road
Additional closings:
- I-10 and Houghton exits
- Kolb Road heading south from Escalante Road to the Valencia Ramp
- Valencia Road heading east from Kolb Road to Old Vail Road
- Mary Ann Cleveland Way heading west from Colossal Cave Road to Houghton Road
- Irvington Road heading east from Kolb Road to Houghton Road
- Houghton Road north from Irvington Road to Escalante Road
- Escalante Road heading east from Houghton Road to the Old Spanish Trial
The press release also states that additional traffic restrictions will be put in place to aid the event.
Additionally, emergency services are allowed to travel through these restrictions.
