Conde Nast Traveler names Tucson as one of the ‘best places to travel to next’

TUCSON, Arizona (KGUN) – Tucson is causing a stir in the global tourism scene.

The city has made Conde Nast’s Hot List 2021 one of the best destinations for next trips.

Tucson’s cultural heritage, dining, art, and hotel scenes help make the area famous.

Here’s what Stephanie Wu of Conde Nast Traveler wrote:

Most come to Tucson for miles of trails under year-round sunny skies, but it’s also worth planning a culinary history trip. The city is the first place in the United States to be recognized by UNESCO for its gastronomy, and it’s easier than ever to discover its Mexican and Native American heritage. The new Barrio Charro restaurant combines the heirlooms of baker Don Guerra with the Mexican flavors of chef Carlotta Flores, resulting in dishes like tortamano sandwiches with azteca bread. Whiskey Del Bac’s single malt, available in its distillery and bars across town, gets its smoky flavor from local mesquite wood. And the internationally acclaimed Monsoon Chocolate is turned into beautifully packaged bars that contain ingredients like Sonoran sea salt, which is harvested by members of the Tohono O’odham tribe. The new hotels in the area are also inspired by their surroundings. The Tuxon with its southwestern modern atmosphere (clear lines, lots of earthy tones and textures) and the Posada by The Joshua Tree House, just outside Saguaro National Park, with white stucco walls and a kiva fireplace, bring desert coolness to a new level. – Stephanie Wu
