Tuesday June 15th is the first day of the monsoon.
Some tips to weather the heat include drinking plenty of fluids, staying in an air-conditioned room, avoiding the sun, and looking for relatives and neighbors. Children and pets should not be left in unattended vehicles for long periods of time. Make sure pets have shade and plenty of water outdoors.
Take extra precautions if you must work outdoors, including an early day work schedule, wearing loose-fitting, light clothing, hydrating, and recognizing symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Anyone who is overwhelmed by heat should be moved to a cool and shady place and 911 should be called for heat stroke.
