The Presidio San Agustín del Tucson Museum is looking for local history buffs with a penchant for the Old Pueblo who would like to serve as lecturers for museum visitors.
Lecturer training starts in September. Topics that will be covered include:
The early humans of the Tucson Basin
History, geography and people of the Spanish Presidio
Basic Spanish military history and uniforms
Understand your audience
Geography of the Presidio Neighborhood, Santa Cruz River, and Sentinel Peak (A Mountain)
Those who successfully complete the course are expected to volunteer one day of the week or one weekend of the month, a press release said. Even those who are not interested in volunteering after the course can also participate, depending on availability.
The course consists of four courses that take place on September 11th, September 18th, 25th and October 2nd from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
For new faculty, the cost of the course is $ 75, including a one-year membership in the Presidio Museum. For history buffs taking the personal knowledge course, the cost is $ 100.
