A fatal collision with a single vehicle closed all eastbound lanes on Interstate 10 just after 1 p.m. north of West 22nd Street on Monday afternoon, according to authorities.
The Arizona Department of Transportation confirmed that eastbound traffic was partially restored when officials arrived on site.
From 3:45 p.m., however, all lanes to the east were closed again to allow further investigations.
“All lanes were closed again for this accident. We do not know when the lanes will be reopened, nor can we predict when the traffic will return to normal,” the statement said.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety confirmed the fatal nature of the crash on Twitter and urged people to avoid the area.
