TUCSON, Arizona (KGUN) – Tucson is experiencing a resurgence in the film industry.
Friday was the eleventh and last day of shooting for the cast and crew of the feature film “Majestic”.
KGUN 9 got an exclusive insight into the ranch scenes that were filmed in the Catalina Foothills.

“Majestic” is a Tucson story about a majestic horse, a young girl who is nursing it, and a villain who takes the horse away.
“It’s about Tucson, it’s about Southern Arizona, and this movie isn’t being made in New Mexico,” said Mark Headley, producer on Majestic. “It’s shot in Tucson, Arizona. And it’s about Tucson, Arizona.”
This villain is played by local actor Sean Dillingham.

The veteran actor has also made appearances on major television series such as Yellowstone and Better Call Saul.
Now he divides the time between the “Majestic” set and the set of the HBO Max series “Duster”.
“I’m doing this movie, Majestic, and I’m doing the HBO show that’s filmed here in town,” said actor Sean Dillingham. “Nice to see things come back to Tucson.”
Dillingham knows the huge economic impact the film industry resurgence is having on Tucson. He is also grateful for the work so close to his home.
“It’s nice. As an actor, I travel everywhere to act,” said Dillingham. “New Mexico and Utah and California. I would love to see it when it returns to Arizona.”
A big reason Majestic is being shot in Tucson is because of Chinese investors.
“Tucson is beautiful. It’s a beautiful city,” said Yuling Wei.
Wei is not only one of the investors, but also plays in the film.
She credits Mark Headley for reaching out to her to get this project off the ground.
“It’s not easy,” said Headley. “The hardest part about making a film is getting funding for it.”
While nearly $ 1 million in funding comes from China, the money is being spent here in Tucson.
“Together with HBO filming here, that has a huge economic impact,” said Headley. “A third of a budget is dumped in the community.”
There are dozens of local crew members. Also actors selected by a local casting director.
“Mark Headley and I have both worked very hard over the years bringing more material to Tucson and Arizona,” said Ron LaCaria, casting director of Majestic. “We have some great talent here, we have some great locations, we have 300 days of shooting. So it’s ideal.”
According to producer Mark Headley, “Majestic” will premiere in China early next year.
He is now in talks with Netflix to take over US distribution of the film.
