After a year and a half of pandemic darkness, the sky in the Tucson area will be resplendent in brilliant blues, greens, reds and yellows this July 4th. Thanks to the introduction of the vaccine, COVID numbers have come down a lot, meaning the city and its neighboring towns have given fireworks the OK. Precautions are still being taken. This is what awaits you on July 4th, 2021.
Tucson’s big show is this year, with fireworks taking off from “A” Mountain in downtown at around 9:15 pm on July 4th, street between South Church and South Granada Avenue. Parking lot C on South Granada Avenue will also be available. Parking in both car parks is free. If you’d prefer not to mess with the traffic around the convention center, park in one of the parking lots near the university and take the Sun Link streetcar to the action. The tram is free until December 31st and stops at the Tucson Convention Center and the Mercado District on the west side of Interstate 10. It runs until about 30 minutes after the fireworks stop so you can get back to your vehicle. Masks are required on the tram. Visit the Mercado District and then head to the MSA Annex, 267 S. Avenida del Convento, for its IndepenDANCE Party from 7-11pm from Los Esplifs, DJ Herm and the Tucson Circus Arts and Circus Sanctuary. In addition to fireworks and music, there will be food trucks, a bar and even stilt walkers. Tickets are $ 15 at the box office and children 12 and under are free.
