A 54-year-old man was arrested near Tucson Airport early Sunday in connection with a fatal accident that involved multiple vehicles, officials say.
Edward Trejo was driving south on the South Nogales Highway near Aerospace Parkway at around 12:45 p.m. when he crossed the center lane and crossed a northbound Dodge Ram, according to a Pima County Sheriff’s Department press release.
He drove in the wrong direction on the north lane and crashed into a Ford F-150 pickup truck, a Honda Civic and a Ford sedan, and impact debris.
The Ford pickup truck, 60-year-old Rafael Caballero, died at the scene of the accident.
Nobody else was injured in the accidents.
Trejo initially left the crash site but returned during the investigation, MPs say.
He was sent to Pima County Prison on suspicion of manslaughter, abandoned the site of fatal collision, exposure, property damage and drinking.
