A young man died and a passenger was seriously injured in a car accident early Sunday morning on the north side of Tucson.
Mario Alberto Quintero, 21, was driving south on North Flowing Wells Road, south of West Prince Road, at around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday when he lost control and hit several objects before bumping into a utility pole and being ejected, said the Tucson Police Department.
When the Tucson Fire Department arrived on site, police said they found Quintero on the street and a woman still in the SUV. Quintero was pronounced dead at the scene and the woman was rushed to the Banner University medical center with serious injuries.
Tucson Police Department investigators found that Quintero was driving too fast at the time of the accident, but are still investigating why Quintero ultimately lost control of the SUV.
