TUCSON (KVOA) – The public is requested to stay away from a landslide area in Tucson Mountain Park.
According to Pima County, the landslide occurred around noon on the southeast side of Golden Gate Mountain last Sunday. It has knocked down numerous saguaro cacti in the area.
“We ask everyone to keep a safe distance from the area,” said Karen Simms, director of natural resources, parks and recreation for Pima County (NRPR). “The soil is currently very unstable and it will take some time for it to heal naturally.”
No injuries have been reported, but the county says the area is not safe to visit. People are asked not to attempt to hike on or around the affected areas.
