A “violent” incident, which may have caused street rage, resulted in part of Interstate 10 in Tucson near Craycroft Road being closed and traffic in for at least three miles on Wednesday night, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety jammed in both directions.

Department officials notified the Arizona Republic that they are investigating the incident and it was a violent attack.

The Arizona Department of Transportation reported that the westbound lanes were closed at around 5:00 p.m.

The Department then tweeted on Wednesday evening, “BOTH directions on I-10 are closed near Craycroft Road in Tucson; this is expected to be an extended closure.”

There was no estimated reopening time at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday and traffic was directed to the Craycroft Road exit.

All lanes to the east were reopened, but the lanes to the west remained closed from 21:26
