Meanwhile, a few miles north of the interchange, are the long-term improvements to the 13-mile Houghton Road corridor.
Construction is underway between Mary Ann Cleveland Way and Valencia Road to create a new six-lane divided desert road.
The improvements also include special turning lanes, new bus bays, a new traffic light at the Rita Road intersection and a paved multipurpose path.
For now, the 2-mile development area introduces minor delays as the speed limit is lowered to 25 mph.
The project is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
The I-10 interchange rebuilding project, Ruthrauff, is nearing halfway, ADOT said.

The project, slated for completion in late 2021, remains on track to add a lane in each direction and a bridge to I-10 to carry Ruthrauff motorists over the tracks of the Union Pacific Railroad.
Motorists are already using a kilometer-long segment of the new lanes towards the east of the I-10.
ADOT will maintain three lanes in each direction until the project is completed.
When the project is complete, I-10 will have four lanes in each direction and Ruthrauff / El Camino del Cerro two lanes in each direction. In addition, reconstructed front streets will be connected to the elevated motorway junction, ADOT said.
