South Houghton expansion has begun in the street
The Pima County’s Department of Transportation, along with its contractor Borderland Construction, has embarked on a $ 30 million project to expand and improve South Houghton Road from Interstate 10 to Andrada Polytechnic High School, 12960 S. Houghton.
The work that started last week will be carried out on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Traffic will remain in the current configuration while the contractor builds the new lanes south west of the carriageway along with the drainage improvements.
Improvements include widening Houghton from a two-lane road to a divided four-lane road, a separate multipurpose path that joins the loop, drainage, and intersection improvements. The project is expected to be completed in late 2022 or early 2023.
Further information on the project can be found at www.roadprojects.pima.gov
