Sure, you can spend the weekend watching Michael Myers, Jason Voorhees, and Freddy Krueger cut and dice their way through groups of teenagers to celebrate Halloween this year.
Or you can spend your Saturday, October 30th, with the upper floor of the horror cinema: Count Oriok the Vampire in “Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror” at the Fox Tucson Theater, 17 W. Congress.
The 1922 film with Max Schreck as Oriok was the German director FW Murnau’s unofficial version of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”. The silent film follows Oriok as he torments his real estate agent Thomas Hutter and Hutter’s wife Ellen.
Here’s the best part about the experience: “Nosferatu” is accompanied by Fox’s Mighty Wurlitzer, a giant theater organ equipped with thousands of moving parts, including more than 3,000 pipe chambers, which was restored in 2019, just before the pandemic broke out.
“Nosferatu” starts at 7.30 pm and runs for around 90 minutes. Tickets are $ 12.50 with discounts available through foxtucson.com.
The Fox Tucson Theater requires all attendees to provide proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative test performed by a medical facility for admission within 72 hours. A mask is compulsory indoors, regardless of vaccination status, except when actively eating or drinking.
