Didinger and his colleague were parked in Silverlake Park due to an unrelated medical emergency when they were ambushed, officials say.

Firefighters who are on site during the house fire report over the emergency radio that they are being shot at.

Scarlett arrived at the burning house after attacking the two paramedics in Silverlake Park and shooting at the responding firefighters and neighbors, police say.

A neighbor who tries to help, 44-year-old Cory Saunders, is shot dead. Another neighbor has a bullet in the head and a TFD fire chief is shot in the arm.

After police raided firefighters and neighbors, Scarlett rammed TPD officer Danny Leon’s patrol car a few blocks away from the house fire. Scarlett then opens fire on Leon, who can exit the patrol car and return fire. Leon shoots and critically injures Scarlett before providing immediate assistance.
