TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) – Following a COVID-19 cancellation last year, the Tucson Classics Car Show returned on Saturday to host hundreds of cars and thousands of people.

It was the 15th annual event for the Tucson Rotary Club, which is celebrating its 100th birthday this year.

“We sold out our parking spaces for our novice car drivers earlier than ever,” said Joni Condit, chairman of the 2021 show and longtime Rotary Club of Tucson member.

The Rotary Club sold raffle tickets for a winner to take home a 2021 Corvette. These raffle tickets, along with other 100th anniversary celebrations, contributed to a $ 250,000 pledge for Pima JTED’s new Innovative Learning Center this year.

“Educates and educates students who will hopefully have wonderful jobs to stay in our community and help our business community be a great success,” said Condit.

To mark the 100th anniversary of the oldest Rotary club in Arizona, cars from 1921 to 2021 were on display. Corvettes from every decade were on display, from the original 1953 model to the 2021 version.

University of Arizona basketball coach Adia Barnes served as the event’s grand marshal. She also brought her players to see the cars.
“Now that I’ve come it’s amazing. I won’t miss it again, ”said Barnes, who is a volunteer Rotarian. “It’s just good to go out and meet people, and I think that’s why Tucson is behind us because we go into the community and do that kind of thing.”

Owners like Mickey-Miles Felton and his ’62 Corvette, which he drove in high school and has since restored and serviced, live a dream by sharing these classics with strangers.

“You meet people who had this car, or they relate to the car, you know, when they were younger,” said Felton, who started his car on the market in 2014 after a long career as a lacrosse coach at UArizona bring. “You have the opportunity to show people things that they haven’t seen for a long time.”
