Tucson Police are looking for a 2016 silver Hyundai Elantra that was involved in a fatal wreck on Friday.

Shortly after 6 p.m., officers were called to the 800 block on South Craycroft Road because of a collision with multiple vehicles.

The driver of a white 2010 Chevrolet Camaro was rushed to St. Joseph’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries, Tucson police said.

Traffic detectives discovered the Camaro and Elantra were traveling south on Craycroft at high speed. For unknown reasons, the two vehicles collided, causing the Camaro to skid over the lanes, where it hit the back of a towed trailer. The Elantra drove away from the scene of the accident.

On Tuesday, June 15, detectives were told that the driver of the Camaro had died from his injuries. He was identified as Michael Damon Perkins, 25.

Excessive speeds of the Camaro and Elantra contribute to the collision, other factors are still being investigated. Detectives ask anyone with information to call 88-CRIME.

The investigation is ongoing and no allegations or charges have been made at this time.
