A 15-year-old girl who got behind the wheel without a license and hit another vehicle has died of her injuries, Tucson police said.

The unidentified teenager and two friends drove on Jan.

Road evidence also indicated that “excessive speed and failure to reduce / control the speed of the Infiniti driver were major contributors to the collision,” a TPD press release said.

“The Infiniti drove into the rear of the Audi at high speed,” it said near the 6200 block of the autobahn. “After the collision, the Infiniti drove through a guardrail and came to a stop on the west side of the Nogales Highway.”

The accident brought the teenage driver and three other people to the hospital, including two passengers from the teen’s car and one from the other vehicle.

The teenager died two days later on Monday, June 7th. The condition of the survivors was not immediately available.

The crash is still being investigated.
