After more than a year of no abracadabra or now-you-see-it, now-you-don’ts, some of Tucson’s top magic talents are returning to the live stage for the 33rd anniversary of a magical Tucson tradition.
The Society of American Magicians Stars of Magic returns on Saturday, October 23rd at the Berger Center for the Performing Arts for a show showcasing some of Tucson’s best magic talents.
Favorite hometown couple John Shryock and Mari Lynn lead the line-up that includes Adrian Van Vactor, Valerie Spell, Rod Robison, Mike Bekedam, Art Trillo, Dan MacInnis, Stephen Levine and the Shryock’s teenage daughter Jasmine, belong.
Magic is a Shryock family business. Throughout the lifetimes of his daughters – Jasmine is 16 and Hailey is 13 – the family worked magic together. Last week they were at Los Angeles’ famous Magic Castle, where the girls got together with their parents for a closing act – the same act they’ll be performing on the Stars of Magic on Saturday, Shryock said.
As well as performing with her parents, Jasmine will be given a small solo stage on the Berger, 1200 W. Speedway on the campus of the Arizona Schools for the Deaf and Blind.
